Rana Young is an artist and educator currently residing in Providence, RI. She earned her MFA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she was an Othmer Fellow, and a BFA in Studio Art from Portland State University. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and published by CNN, Hyperallergic, VICE, Huffington Post, Harper's Magazine, L'Oeil de la Photographie, The Wall Street Journal, British Journal of Photography, and The New York Times. Kris Graves Projects (Queens, NY) published her first monograph, The Rug's Topography, in 2019.

In her art practice, Rana employs photography as autobiographical narratives depicted in the Midwest landscape. Her projects render multiple lines of inquiry to confront and articulate the intricate dynamics that linger within familial bonds. She draws from her Midwest upbringing and the haunting echoes of coping with hereditary trauma, parental incarceration, childhood abandonment, mental illness, and long-withheld family secrets. Staged scenes, archival images and ephemera, and documentary techniques may function independently or in tandem to construct her complex visual elegies.
